A layer of tears, called the tear film, spreads over the eye after every blink making clear vision possible. This layer is composed of proteins and fats that provide structure, stability, and functionality. When there are abnormalities or deficiencies in this layer, it can lead to symptoms of dry eye syndrome such as dryness, burning, soreness, scratchiness, and grittiness. These symptoms can also be exacerbated by factors such as environmental conditions and contact lens wear.

Dry Eye Relief provides a method for treating dry eye as topical serum that uses growth factors and cytokines to protect the ocular surface from dryness. DER assists the eyes own secretions in maintaining their structural and functional properties and therefore, relieving the symptoms shown in dry eye conditions.
